About
Round 2 of the Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund (the Fund) is a competitive Victorian Government investment program, open to Victorian rural and regional Local Government Authorities and Alpine Resorts Victoria.
Backed by the Victorian Government’s $2 billion Regional Package, the Fund aims to deliver new and upgraded community sports infrastructure across 5 streams:
- Indoor Stadiums and Aquatic Facilities
- Community Facilities
- Women and Girls Facilities
- Planning
- All Abilities Infrastructure.
Eligibility
Only rural and regional Victorian Local Government Authorities and Alpine Resorts Victoria are eligible to apply to the Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
Rural and regional Victoria is defined as the 48 local government areas set out in Schedule 2 of the Regional Development Victoria Act 2002, including alpine resort areas.
Process for clubs/local organisations
Regional Sports Assemblies, sport and recreation clubs, sporting associations and leagues, educational institutions, community organisations, disability service providers, businesses and individuals cannot directly apply to the Fund.
The Community Organisation Expression of Interest Form has been developed to assist this process if Local Government Authorities and Alpine Resorts Victoria wish to use this.
Local clubs and organisations are advised to contact their Local Government Authority or Alpine Resorts Victoria if they wish to express interest, seek support or be involved as a partner in applications to the Fund.
Funding Available
Indoor Stadiums and Aquatic Facilities
- Applications: One per Local Government Area (LGA) or ARV
- Grant Limit: Up to $5 million for indoor facilities (stadiums, aquatic), and up to $3 million for major outdoor aquatic facilities
- Projects: New or redeveloped multi-sport indoor courts, indoor aquatic facilities, outdoor aquatic facilities of strategic importance, and facilities for gymnastics/dance as part of larger projects.
Community Facilities
- Applications: Unlimited, with a maximum of $1 million in total per LGA/ARV
- Grant Limit: Up to $1 million
- Projects: LED sports lighting, multi-sport training facilities, pavilion developments (including change rooms and amenities), outdoor fitness stations, playspaces, trails, and minor outdoor aquatic recreation initiatives.
Women and Girls Facilities
- Applications: Unlimited, with a maximum of $1 million per LGA/ARV
- Grant Limit: Up to $1 million
- Projects: Change rooms, sports fields, LED lighting, and multi-sport precincts that support active recreation projects prioritizing women and girls.
Planning
- Applications: One per LGA/ARV
- Projects: Facility and municipal planning to support infrastructure readiness, including designs, feasibility studies, and strategic planning for specific facility types.
All Abilities Infrastructure
- Applications: Unlimited, with a maximum of $1 million per LGA/ARV
- Grant Limit: Up to $1 million
- Projects: Accessibility improvements such as creating accessible entrances, pathways, amenities, and all abilities play spaces to enhance participation for people with disabilities.
All Abilities Participation
- Applications: One Participation Initiative request per infrastructure application (excluding Planning)
- Grant Limit: Up to $50,000 per initiative
- Projects: Inclusive participation initiatives at funded facilities, such as accessible sports equipment, staff training for inclusive programs, awareness campaigns, and “come and try” memberships.
