Exuberant celebrations, goals galore and smiles aplenty were the order of the day at the recent All Abilities Soccer Gala Day, held at Churchill Reserve in Benalla last Thursday June 27.

On a day where conditions couldn’t be described as anything less than perfect, around 65 of the regions’ all abilities ‘soccer enthusiasts’ converged on a sun drenched Benalla for a day of friendly match play between day service provider & special development school teams from places such as Wodonga, Shepparton, Cobram/Numurkah and Seymour in attendance.

Although the day was a match play event, the emphasis, as always, was on having fun and giving it a go, which was clearly present for all to see with fantastic sportsmanship, encouragement and laughs from start to finish, providing a true reflection of the fun had by all.

Valley Sport Project Officer Jarryd Cutler was very pleased with the gala day as a whole:

“Now in it’s second year, the gala day is quickly becoming a key highlight on the local inclusive sport calendar. The opportunity to team up and deliver this event alongside Sports North East and Football Federation Victoria is certainly something that we are both proud of and keen to continue to do moving forward.”

“With attendance numbers being solid again for this year, we are quite confident that collectively, we are onto a winner with this event, and that it will continue to grow and prosper for years to come.”

A big thankyou needs to go out to all teams and organisations involved in the day, and we certainly hope that all teams will return for 2020, as well as more new teams who are keen to join in on the fun.
